What is the shelf life of the Carbon Filter?Updated 2 years ago

If new and unused, sealed in their original packaging, the carbon filter for the SURVIVOR FILTER PRO™ and SURVIVOR FILTER™ PRO X Electric Water Filter can be stored for a lifetime.

Once you open the Carbon Filter and it is out of it's original packaging, the carbon fiber filter may become less effective absorbing taste and odor and heavy metals, which is when we recommend replacing it, typically around 18-24 months of use or around 2,000 liters (528 gallons). This is the only filter element that will degrade over time once exposed to air. 

We recommend keeping your Carbon Filter in a ziplock bag or other closed container when not in use, away from dust particles or other elements.
